Your Adversary

Are you discerning enough to know there is more to life than meets the eye or the ear?  Have you yet been able to perceive that the mechanisms of the earth, and its home, the stellar expanses of the universe, necessarily require an unbound Intelligence at the helm?  Do you believe in God and the spiritual realm, or are you convinced that there is nothing apart from matter and its innate capacity to stimulate our sensory perceptions?  How you answer these questions will determine the tactics of your unseen adversary.

Perhaps you should know some basic truths about the enemy of your soul:  Jesus informed His unbelieving critics, “Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. (John 8:44)”  The devil, as he is called here, is a murderer and a liar.  His lies are intended to keep you from truth that can open your eyes to the other realm—the spiritual realm in which your soul will live forever.

The Apostle Paul spoke of the spiritually lost, “In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2Corinthians 4:4)”  He speaks, of course, of the devil (Satan) who blinds the minds of unbelievers so that they will choose to reject the Good News, the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  If you cannot detect any value in the Bible, you are most certainly a victim of this spiritual blindness.

The Apostle Peter warns, “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: (1Peter 5:8)”  Here we see that Satan is not passive in his work to deceive, but aggressive, and determined to destroy your life and damn your soul to eternal hell.  Perhaps you are one of those who stand, totally unaware, in the midst of the battlefield in which a war rages between good and evil, between God and the devil, and you are the prize.  Wake up and smell the sulfur!  Now is the time of salvation!
