Maybe Later
The Lord has blessed our church with several ministries in which we are able to share the Gospel regularly. The Gospel of Jesus Christ, is the Good News of God’s willingness to reconcile (buy back) to Himself, mankind, whose fellowship was lost when sin entered the world. Several responses to the gospel message are typical: “I’m all set.” “Maybe later.” “I’ll think about it.” But these are not responses at all; they are put-offs, and only veil the true thoughts and intentions of the persons who voice them.
Occasionally someone will say, “I think that is a personal matter.” Not to be pushy or rude, but I usually counter, “It is indeed personal, but God has ordained that it not be private.” He has commissioned His people to lovingly spread the Gospel, which is the only means by which anyone will ever be reconciled to God. “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: 20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. (Matthew 28:19-20)“
If you have not yet become a part of the eternal family of God, consider this: “Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. (Isaiah 55:6-7)” “(For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured [helped] thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.) (2Corinthians 6:2)”
Perhaps most Christians are uneasy when it comes to delivering God’s message to others, but we must remember, if we don’t tell them, perhaps they will never hear. “How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher? (Romans 10:14)” If you are a Christian, God wants you to live your faith before others and without being pushy or obnoxious, share the gospel with those who are willing to hear it.
