Standard Weekly Instruction:

                Begin to memorize Titus 2:1-5.  Also, please answer the questions below in preparation

for class-time. 

 

1.  Using a dictionary, define: habit.  How do you think a habit is formed?  What could be the motivation for forming a habit?

 

2.  Using a dictionary, define: excess.  In your opinion, are excesses a good or a bad thing and why?

 

3.  What is God’s Word saying in these verses?   Romans 6:16-18

 

4.  Read:  I Corinthians 6:9-11.  From this passage list those who will not inherit the

Kingdom of God.  Why will some of the Corinthians inherit the Kingdom of God?

 

5.  Using a dictionary, define: righteousness

 

6. Excesses: 

            A.  These verses go hand in hand.  What are these verses saying concerning the drinking of wine?  What is the warning?  What is the end result?

                        Proverbs 23:20-21 and Proverbs 19:15

 

            B.  There are many warnings against drunkenness in Scripture.  Read the following references and then give a total summary of what these compiled verses say about this vice. 

                        Proverbs 20:1;   Proverbs 23:29-30;   Isaiah 5:11;   Luke 21:34;

                        Romans 13:13;  Ephesians 5:18.

 

7.  Flesh versus the Spirit:

 

            a.  Read Galatians 5:16-26.    Giving a verse reference for your answers, how is a believer dependent on the Holy Spirit?

 

            b.  Consider and Meditate:  How are we going to practically apply dependence on the Holy Spirit in our lives?  What steps need to be taken to be victorious over the flesh and its works?  What areas in our lives need to be put to death? 

           

            c.  These verses give us some of God’s direction to consider in mortifying the flesh.      Jot down your observations of God’s direction.

                        Romans 13:14

                        Galatians 5:19-21List the works of the flesh.  What is Verse 21 saying about those who exhibit a lifestyle of these works of the flesh?

                        Ezekiel 36:27

                        Galatians 2:20 – What is our responsibility according to this verse?

Because Christ is living in me, do I become a non-personality?   

             

            d.  I John 3:24   What is the evidence that Christ lives in us?
