Carters´ Uruguayan Update    November, 2007

 Dear Praying Friends,

Weather has reached into the 90´s.  Clocks took a "spring" ahead and the days are longer.
Christmas programs are in rehearsal and the youth group is feverishly saving money for summer camps in January. The Carters are praying for a replacement to take the church here for their 3 month´s furlough. Abby (CEF Uruguay) and Charley (finishing 3 years of Bible Institute) have important decisions facing them.

Good News Club - With the nicer weather we had a great outdoor children´s event with over 50 children and some parents attending.  Some made decisions for salvation.

Men´s Conference - Approximately 60 men attended this first-of-its-kind conference in Montevideo.  The theme was 20 Characteristics of a Godly Man - sufficient to challenge every man present! There was also a message on Marriage is Honorable.  An extra blessing for us was that Charley came over from Bible Institute in Argentina to translate for the speakers from the States.

Child Evangelism Fellowship-  After the 3 week visit in March of nearly 30 CEF workers from Latin America, three 30 hour training courses have been taught. Graduation for over 25 students is scheduled for November 23.

Special prayer is needed for the youth training planned for February.  Called "JUCA" here, it would be "Christian Youth in Action" in North America. This will be a first time experience for Abby and the instructors.

There are two candidates for missionary service with CEF-Uruguay.  They are in the process of meeting certain requirements to be able to begin raising support.  Eduardo, married, with 3 children 16 and older and Maria Emilia, a 23 year old single girl from the Salto church where we ministered for most of the 1980´s.

Graduation / Conference - David and Marianella Bueno and Charley finish their 3 years at Word of Life Bible Institute. Conference begins November 29.  David and Marianella lack 1,067 dollars to clear up their school bill.  Please be praying for this.  All three are seeking the Lord´s direction for their summer ministries and future plans.

Wedding Bells - María Angélica Bueno, (yes, she is David´s sister), our church secretary, is getting married on December 14 and 15. She and her fiancé, Christian, will be married legally on Friday and then on Saturday will be the church wedding.  We are excited for them but saddened to lose our secretary as she will ¨go withersoever he goeth¨.

Furlough Plans - We look forward to a 3 month furlough from March through May, 2008.  Nearly 20 of our supporting churches were visited between August and November, 2006.  This time we will give preference to the churches that we missed last time and try to visit others as well.  We hope to see YOU, even if it is for a short chat.

Thanksgiving -  Thank you for your prayer and/or financial support.  You have an important part in making it possible for us to be here. Thank you for your interest in the Carter family and the ministry being accomplished in La Paz, Uruguay.   Trust you have a great Thanksgiving with family and friends.  As you feast, be sure give thanks to the Lord together as a family.

Thanks again for your encouragement in the ministry,

Jim and Debbie Carter
